Gina's Junk Thrift & Antique Store,Columbus Ga.- More Items arriving Everyday

HECTOR THE COLLECTOR by Shel Silverstein-
Hector the Collector Collected bits of string,
Collected dolls with broken heads and rusty bells that would not ring.
Pieces out of picture puzzles,Bent-up nails and ice-cream sticks,Twists of wires, worn-out tires,Paper bags and broken bricks.
Old chipped vases, half shoelaces,Gatlin' guns that wouldn't shoot,Leaky boats that wouldn't float
And stopped-up horns that wouldn't toot.
Butter knives that had no handles,Copper keys that fit no locks,Rings that were too small for fingers,Dried-up leaves and patched-up socks.
Worn-out belts that had no buckles,'Lectric trains that had no tracks,Airplane models, broken bottles,Three-legged chairs and cups with cracks.
Hector the Collector Loved these things with all his soul‹Loved them more than shining diamonds,Loved them more than glistenin' gold.
Hector called to all the people,"Come and share my treasure trunk!"
And all the silly sightless people Came and looked...and called it junk. ;)

"Going Back- (asked to repost this special Memory)

~ Hidden Rock Quarry, Chilton Co. Al.~Summer 2008
For Nearly 25 Years I have tried to go back(Rather Find My Way Back) to a Beautiful Place Near My Moms In Chilton Co. Al.
Many Folks from the Area have heard of this Hidden Rock Quarry but have never seen it!
A Trip to the Quarry took you down dirt roads called the Fire Lanes that lead you deep into the woods, park, walk maybe 2 miles deeper into the woods, cross over a creek or two, come over a rise and lo and behold one of the most Beautiful places you ever laid eyes on.. Smack in the Middle of those woods!
Imagine a first time walking up on something like this... As best i can describe it .. the water at times would be a Pink/Aqua Color.
This small Lake was once a Rock Quarry .. so the story told.. nearly a hundred years ago.. the work was short lived after hitting an under ground spring that flooded in.
Many Hot Summer days spent here swimming, jumping off swing ropes we tied in trees & just hanging out.
I was able to share This Beautiful Place again this summer with my family.
*( My Mom at the time 76 yrs. old & Ever the Trooper rode on back of a 4 wheeler with me till we found our way thru the woods to the quarry:)
