Will you create a fashion trend out your own personal essence? How have *you* contributed to or influenced pop-culture, even in the smallest circle around your own life that others have adopted? You may not have been the first in the world to think about "it"... just the one to popularize "it" in your social circle, even in the smallest of ways... Adam has a un-natural knack at succesffuly influencing lexicon and keeping the "cheesy the 80s movies" spirit alive, and revels in it... ha! Naphleon's fashion adoption catches the eyes of people... thinking slightly outside the norm, existing in the norm with a flare... also, took her about a month of pushing... she made a BlackCrowes fan out of me(1990).... thank you for that. MsCinny also has a natural influence on oddly-implemented sarcastic speech and language inflections that'll have you rollin'. I, however, feel as though I introduce smaller, more clandestine pop-culture rituals... Canvas ChuckTaylors(1984/5)... really quite comfortable, but generic sneakers were constructed the same... got made fun of by the same peeps that ended up buying them a couple years later... I didn't create the retro-trend, but ahead of the curve. Flanel PJ bottoms(1995)... used to be hard to find... had to buy the whole set, then all of sudden easy -- everywhere! Ahead of the curve on that one. That70sShow(1998?)... hardcore fan since day one. Quite possibly one of the most well-constructed/written sitcom in recent years. It's religion. ConcreteBlonde(1988)... the most under-rated band of the 1980s. Yes, I'm a fanatic. TheGoodies(2000)... great band from the Southeast... simply too good for a record deal. TenaciousD(2000/2001)... best CD of 2001 Maroon5(2002)... yea, I found out about this band from Salon.com, but a contribution in my lil circle of influence. ElectricBlankies(2002)... admittedly, out of need... no gas when it gets cold is bad, but others have followed suit. hehe The use of multiple monitors (2000)... yea, I dreamed about it since I saw a non-linear video-editting system in 1993.
