Alan Yates Music "mint condition" CD Release Party REDLIGHT CAFE, ATL... alan's site Fire code! Place was packed, and the beware, the doorman can be brutal.
Hot chicks pretty much everywhere. Guess that's what you get when you produce a CD that is a "creamtastic-honey-sweet trip"... Oh yea... I walked in during some guy that I think really thought he was Dylan. Nice hat. Next: Classical Guitar guy with Cellist chick. I really liked them, but wasn't the vibe I was feelin' that night. Alan's childhood friend, Herb Jones, acoustically set a small set alight in order to warm us up for Alan Yates' and his merry band. The Show Being quite familiar with the material really helps keep your attention. heh The band's groove, always more organic in a live setting, was right on. Without sounding like oozing all over the band... Mike Lamb plays interesting drums. Dunno any other way to explain. I like a nice hooky rhythm under the melody. He does that. Tiz Tisdale... the Reggae chant was right on... amazing stuff... sounds extra-terrestrial. Brian Bonds... hmmm...damn good talent on that guitar. Atmospheric... with that SRV flair when need be. Keep yer eye on this one. Name-dropping... I don't keep up with movie, music industry, or rock star names, and certainly don't keep up locals, except those that impress me early, or learn to love later... Jesse & Julie Deese from VMG Studio; world-famous golfer and soundman Tony Caporale(?damn italians) and his lovely rib -- Gina; local rockers -- Steep; mulletman and BFJ of the mulletman band, Alan's manager, Renea from Atlantic Talent; Joe and Gemma Giddings of powerpop heroes of Star Collector JTG Implosion fame; other members and family related to Brian Bonds Theory; members of 38 Special; Luther from CrossOver Studios; Michelle, a friendly grocery store manager and some pharmacist assistants that can get me cheap vegetables... appearently; Random Long-Haired guy from Alan's past; Denise and Denise?; Don Astin and Jennifer of anapolisred management fame; Doug, manning the merch; over 100 others and of course... the world-famous graphic designer and marketing deity... myself. If you haven't bought Alan Yates' CD yet... first, shame, secondly... it'll be for sale online several place and in stores soon ... We'll both announce when that materializes. Last time I talk about this CD for a while, but... Listened again tonight... and it really has a nice "heady" trip to it as an album... production pristine. peace- seanrox |
