Filling Time... Books on Business and Entreprenueral stuff can suck. Some of the books I've been reading are truly enjoyable and inspiring. Real-life stories of success and "things to keep in mind." Others... the old-school type books. They suck. They're boring and are written in a voice that that hates the fact entrepreneurialism (?) even exists. If you're considering picking up any of this type of reading... ensure the author was born AFTER 1965... or you might consider killing yourself by page 50... which btw, also sucks. Possibly, when I get a hair, I'll list the books on this blog/affiliated sites that have actually been quite inspiring. BoG.com uses seanrox emoticons! Got a random email asking permission to use one or two of my homebrewed emoticon... y'know... like graphic smilies n stuff. Always cool when someone asks permission. So, if you go to bog.com it's likely you'll see my "boobies" icon... and maybe the famous "rockhand" icon from mulletman.com. seanroxMUSIC expands... Been in the studio with JJ finishing up my first "balls-out rock" track, entitled "Rocket69". JJ's guitar parts really take it to another level. Should be posting the track in the next two weeks. If you like Aerosmith, the Stones, and Bob Segar... you'll probably hate this song.... rips all of them off from every angle. God Bless it. Also, working with both Alan Yates and John Hopkins of BrighterShade on some less brash material. "Breathe" (the cigarette song). One of the two versions should also be available for web postage in the coming weeks before the holidays. Has a total eclectic, dark/minor vibe... and it's the first track I've recorded where I actually LIKE my voice.... behold a new era. Related... I've really been working on getting more comfortable with my voice. It's so different than singing with a loud band behind me... thanks to Alan Yates for showing me how to chill the hell out and croon. heh RockSocial takes a break... That last week of October about killed me... 3 shows in 3 days. Bleat! Anyhoo... I still haven't gotten the BloodyMary Brunch-Fest pictures posted... it'll possibly happen Tuesday... before we send out the invite for "School of Rock" Drive-in, bladeebla next week at Starlight. Keg. Movie. Good. Bring yer legwarmers. Be there. Next year should prove to interesting. Co-promoting events has proved more difficult than anticipated. (this is my blog, so I shall tell it how I feel it)... Although people appear to be enticed by the "idea" of the RockSocial and all the barriers it hopes to break down, it's become quite difficult to get the people to drop their insecurities and just work together openly. The whole "secret this" and "secret that" is what is keeping the ATL music scene from moving forward in a cohesive manner. Open up and work together, bring the majors in to help us support ourselves. It's not about $50 at the end of a night... it's about the THOUSANDS of dollars possible if everything is planned out properly. I will move RockSocial forward with open intentions. Radio, Cable, Promoters, Venues, Record Peeps, Distributors, Retail, Business... open up... it's exciting, and you've let it pass you by for far too long. Let's unite with the film, video, artists, musicians, and other creative people who are left in certain poverty. One vision. Can we do this? I knew you could. ;) ROCKSEXPARTY RECORDS LAUNCHES! Three more weeks, RockSexParty Records reopens it's doors with a release from The Indsidious Rays... titled "Pakalolo Pipeline: Surf with the Insidious Rays." It will be available online at CDBaby.com around Thanksgiving if everything goes smoothly. It's really my attempt to try to market what I consider a great music product to niche markets. The CD will be signed/numbered by the band, and will kick your surfing ass. :) If I fail... I'm only out a few hundred dollars. If I do well... I'll be releasing many more special edition CD compilations. Moving Right Along... Appears I'll be moving across the neighborhood to "CrackStreet"... I simply can't afford this conveniently-located loft any longer... the new place I'm strongly considering is large, purple, also upstairs, and huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge. More info on this soon. peace- seanrox |
