Angie Aparo gets shot.
If you've never seen this guy sing... do it.

Yea, he wrote the award-winning title track, "Cry" for Faith Hill, BUT... you should really hear his own version.
Unsure where he fits into this music world. Just glad his music exists.

Had the honor of checking out The Loft down in Columbus, Ga, last week. Rode down with the "world-famous" producer, his manager, MikeLamb -- percussionist, and Lord of Really Loud Acoustic Guitar. It rained. A lot.

The Loft is like Atlanta's own Eddie's Attic mixed with... ummm... Chili's? Great venue.

Yeesh! I'm focused.
Spent the last day or so focusing on my work in front of me... amazing what one can get done.

TLC affects.
After watching a good chunk of a "Trading Spaces" marathon, I'm ready to say it... Time to clean this dump.

Haven't vocalized this mind-boggling overstatment with a solution before, but my personal collection of piles, stacks, and leaning towers are visually overwhelming.

Possibly something cool/creative will come from it. Embarrassing pictures of clutter, mess and mayhem sure to come.

Songwriting Update... behind the scenes with 4 new-ish songs.

In the past year, I feel better about where both my design and songwriting are leading. Here are my songwriting notes. If you don't care... scroll down to the Idol Review. :)

  • "Breathe" (the cigarette song)...
Once mySpanishGroove instrumental, now my favorite track to sing and play. Those who've suffered through me playing it, have mentioned it's probably the best yet. (woohoo) With this track, I think I'm *finally* finding my voice.
LYRIC: "...just sit back, have another cigarette, and just breathe..."

  • "ScorpionRose" (signature song)...
Again, for years my online portfolio intro music piece... now it's a full-formed epic ballad. I'm ready to record this track.
LYRIC: "...an indelliable tattoo on your very soul..."

  • "Rocket 69" (balls out rock)...
Although the first song I wrote with a guitar in month one... I've finally figured my place in it. One more verse... then record.
    LYRIC: "...hot wind, I'm mobilized..."

  • "On Your Own" (the duet)...
Nearly two years after originally writing the verse and chorus, then adding the bridge/refrain a year later, now I'm finally attempting to finish the duet with hardsmackin' Elizabeth from the local band, alastor... guess we'll see how the chemistry goes. :)
LYRIC: "...one track woman and a radio......"

  • AMERICAN IDOL 2: The Final 2...

Tomorrow we will know who will be awarded the million dollar recording contract, but tonight, I'll make a prediction...

CLAY MEETS TONY, WALT & ELTON.
It simply doesn't matter who wins... because within the next 3-6 years, Clay will work with Disney animated soundtracks, possibly win himself a Tony, and meet Elton John.

    RUBEN NEEDS IT MORE.
Ruben, the man has a voice, but might need this *win* more than Clay.

    DEMOGRAPHICS.
If the vote is young... Clay has it. Both share the religious "right", yet Ruben prolly keeps the minorities. The "swing" vote could possibly be the blue team... Clay... pack your bags, either way, you're about to begin a voyage.

    OH YEA... FOX WINS SWEEPS.
Fox, known for their sweeps co-promoting antics, have done it again. 3 Nights of idol this week. Two of which pushed season finales for other shows... and then, last night.. the tease. Live-ish concert on Thursday with last Idol's winners, Kelly and Justin and other music stars you'll prolly like. heh. Gotta hand it to them.

    Amazing machine, Fox is.

    SET VCR for RECORD...
I'll be at an AngieAparo show, so we'll test my VCR's faith.

    Your Bloated Idea Empire

I'm there. To the point of overload. I'm glad I'm there. The collective of all the ideas you have in your life are mostly wasted. Either not written down, recorded or remembered.

    IDEA STORAGE...
Although it may seem extreme to some, I will design something in Photoshop for every idea I have... that's how I keep it stored for later use. Apply some visual reality to it. I must have hundreds of designs of half-baked ideas. Every idea will be put to good use. Eventually... by someone.

    ONE FAMILY...
I needed a place other than this blog to put this ideas into motion. Introducing... seanrox.NET... a family or network of creative-driven sites that I share with my varying partners. The center-point being creativity and community.

    Idea Empire vs. Delegation.

Easy to say you can build something. More difficult if you have to maintain it. Delegation to invested partners is most important. I will build any creative idea if I have two people that are dedicated to the project.

    WHY DO IT?
I simply get a kick out of seeing other people wrap their minds around an idea and produce something cool. Music, Art, Writing it all feeds us.

With a cigarette, another moment passes by.

On purpose. With purpose. Hold tight, wish well, the man behind the corner will do as he pleases. I sit back, have another cigarette, and pass it by.

Move forward at the pace you should. You define the pace. Only pick the flowers you wish keep. Only listen to the sounds that intrigue you. Only find your way to the places you've never been, yet reside in the world you already know.

Make a pact with yourself. You are the only one in this world that can learn from other's misgivings. You are the the culmination of everyone you've ever met. You are responsible for what you have learned and what they have taught you.

What are you going do with it all?

Designing without anything but an... ummm... "logo"...

It's often a difficult task when you have NO elements to work with, but... it's a good exercise in use of color and geometry.

    COLOR.
To me, the color BLUE doesn't say "home". Rather, it says... cool, refreshing mountain stream. Tried to pull the homier, green hues in there... heightened the green saturated elements (ripped from random places.) Ahhh... how the gaussian blur helps us hide copyright infringement.

    PEOPLE.
No budget for art, yet homes are about people. Need people. Hmmm... Again... get random people from the web... and outline them. Alas! People.

This dream I had last night...
So, I'm at this really cool, trendy Arab-owned indie movie theatre, met up with Lisa Marie Presley, who is there with two of her friends. We truly hit it off quite well... joking around stuff... she says we should hang out again.

Before I know it, the film is done, I get confused by the arab theatre owners pushing us all out of the theatre... forgetting to swap contact info with her. A few minutes later, I run back to the theatre... she's gone.

Yea, I really shouldn't fall asleep with CNN on.

    "The seanrox Network" expands...

Just as I think I couldn't possibly use another domain... alas! RockSocial.com! A live music fraternity of sorts with one of many commandments... Thou shalt NOT rock alone.

    SEE THE DESIGN FULL SIZE

Site will include: Event Pictures with Comments and syndicated content from the upcoming new music guide, RockSexParty.com.

It's all part of the larger tightly-knit network of sites launching this month that I and a small team of buds dreamed up over the past years... my, how the empire groweth.

American Idol: Top 4... No one is safe. (and please dump Josh)

Okay.... let's just hope we can get down to bidniss... here's my fleeting thoughts about BeeGee Night with the kiddos:

Joshua Gracin... Dump this guy. Please, America... allow his "Patriot Points" to finally play out. As soon as the war came to an end, so did his hopes of winning. Sorry dude.... bright side: Nashville won't let this one go. He'll get a major label deal.... ummmm... with Capitol?

Ruben Studdard... The man continues to bring it, in his own style. During his first performance, I totally imagined him singing country songs. He could do it... and well. Eventually the state of Alabama's lack of vote in the Electoral count will prevail.... but I could be wrong. If Ruben won, I wouldn't feel bad... but prolly wouldn't buy a Barry White-esque CD... and neither would the 13yr old girls voting...

Kimberly Locke... Boobs with class! Be really cool if she won... we've seen a noticable visual metamorphosis that matches the quality of her voice. Alas... her charm left her this week, and if she doesn't get cut, she better boost the tempo. She's does have demographics in her favor... the "blackgirlvote", "thebiggirlvote", and "thedamnthatgirlcansingvote". I'd buy her CD.

Clay Aiken... Here we go... the past couple weeks, he's jumped ahead. The suit works for him... voice is always right on, and the voters, afterall... are 13yr old girls with unlimited night-time minutes. I'd buy it for my mom.

    ALL I WANT IS...
...to dump Josh before anyone else.

    ABBREVIATED: MusicMidtown 2003
Check out: Adam's Blog for the overview. Better than I would have written. :) ... and thanks to EbayDoug for the picture-takin'.

    Quickie. Not in order.

  • I bought short-pants.

  • Rain.

  • Unwritten Law sucked a little less after they cut their sound, got arrested for throwing drums at fans.... hopefully they'll be ripped from their label who was stupid enuff to sign them in the first place. RULE: If you suck at your job... be a really nice person.

  • Mulletman and RockSexParty stickers on boobs.

  • Live rocked, as usual. Shorter set due to UnwrittenLaw's tantrum... and for more fun: I've posted a pic to UnwrittenLaw's message board. Just want the pic?

  • Some band with "Orion" in the name was ok... the singer was TomCruise, I believe.

  • Local's BachelorRed had cool temp tattoos.

  • Evanescence... this is their year. Finally a mass-palettable goth rock band. Beautiful girl, solid voice... angel of the dark.

  • King's X Rocked their solid groove.... fans only. Sound guy sucked... appearently doesn't understand some bands need volume for harmony. Fire that guy too.

  • Lots of consumption... and eating horribly fattening food that tasted great.

  • The grass was comfortable.

  • Gomez!

  • BenHarper!

  • DefLeppard!?! They know how to do this.

    Two new MP3s from Me!

"WashOverMe"... Alan Yates Smooth Mix (produced by AYMMusic )
    > Hear "WashOverMe"... yep, finally got it posted. It's a smooth, well-produced atmospheric ballad. Alan's harmonies really smooth out my vox... Great job.

"Scorpion Rose" ... sofa session (recorded by Makiki)
    > Hear "ScorpionRose Live"... Makiki(Tom) recorded this during my "sofa sessions" with his DV camera... of course... I have a face for radio, so here's the mp3 instead of a video. heh

... and yes, I know the guitar is out of tune. Screw you. :)

As always, you can hear the demo-quality stuff on seanroxMUSIC.com
