80s Metal Revisited...

So, I sent out an RockSocial.com email blast yesterday promoting the multi-platinum Kip Winger acoustic show @ Vinyl I'll be emceeing on Saturday... Want to come? (Winger Videos)

... anyhoo, I began to get all nostalgic about my 80s metal days...

So, I type in "BarrenCross.com"... there it be! A site for one of my favorite "message-driven" glam metal bands of all time. Understand... phonically these guys pulled off an IronMaiden vibe 3.5x better than Maiden themselves. Nothing against Bruce, but Mike Lee "did" Bruce better than Bruce ever did. I wore the hell out of my "Rock for the King" - 1986.

Barren Cross's Imaginary Music Video
Check out this Barren Cross Video... yea, the furry outfits were a bit over the top... but listen to the groove and listen to Mike's voice. Rock!

Christian Metal... it's not just for the Christians anymore...
It's part of the fabric, man. Join us at the RockSocial at Earthlink Live! for Stryper in November. The band that took metal ballads and harmonies to a new level.

btw... here's some Stryper videos: Shining Star & Always there for you

Why QT's "Kill Bill" will rock...

Haven't seen it yet... just look at the references available to savour simply from seeing the commercial.

Oh... yea, also add "Matrix" and "Hidden Dragon" special effects, that Segal movie "coma-recovery bad-ass...

"Charlie's Angels" casting coupled with "LeFemme Nakita?" espionage...

Bruce Lee "army of 'Green Hornet' masked katos"...

not to mention the bold female version of Lee's "Game of Death" yellow and black jumpsuit. (btw, unrelated Stryper will be playing Atlanta in November at Earthlink Live).

In fact, the concept of fighting levels in Lee's "Game of Death" is the format borrowed for video games. We still use that formula today.

Oh yea... TV's "Kung-Fu" lends creedence to my theories by David Caradline portraying the "Tom Bosley" role in the on-the-nose "'Angels" reference.

I like to watch.

Some people are addicted to sports. As the popularity and rise of Reality TV, we can better understand why we enjoy NOT knowing the ultimate outcome of an event.

The "reality bug" has even taken hold of this online journal, as I shared my view on the American Idol competitions.

I'm also a news-head.

That's the ultimate reality. In the past 10 years I've witnessed some amazing revalations unfold before me on the television. There's something extraordinary about this first-head reality window to the world.

'Reality TV' allowed me to witness...

LAUNCH.
Ross Perot annoucing his Presidential bid on CNN. I think was eating a bowl of cereal.

BOOM, EPISODE I
I was at work at a closed-circuit TV network when CNN reported the World Trade Center had been truck-bombed.

HINDER
All of us in the network saw the live footage of reporters on the beach hindering the Marines as they landed in Somalia.

MURDER
The first flames burst out the window of the Waco compound. I swear it was the tank that caused that fire. I was eating lunch on my couch.

STUPIDITY
OJ Simpson's low-speed chase thru Los Angeles. I was an audio tech at a conference, and was in the adjacent sports bar waiting for the event to end.

THEFT
The confusion of the Presidential elections on MSNBC. Flip-flop over again. I stayed up all night. It was many weeks later until we knew who would be the new leader of America.

BOOM, EPISODE II
The twin towers in New York on September 11th... I saw the second plane hit, and the towers fall. What an eerie feeling it was not knowing what the hell was going on. The entire CJ staff was in Marc's living room in total awe.

DIDN'T VOTE FOR THE GUY
State of the Union by President Bush... where he named Iraq and Korea in the 'axis of evil'. Living room wondering who voted for this ass.

SPEAK
Countless pivotal speeches at the UN and on television. I just happened to be flipping thru.

BOOM, EPISODE IV
The world lived thru embedded reporters in Iraq, as we witnessed travel, the first combat outside Basrah, the eventually invasion of Sadam's parade ground, and multi-topplings of monolithic Sadam statues. I cringed as the Army covered his face with the American flag. I slept in my living room with Fox News for months.

MORE STUPIDITY
Yes, I was awake to see Geraldo draw secrets to the world in the sand. Ass.

TECH
With an ever-evolving world and the technology to capture it all... there's no wonder that script writers will need to possess ideas of wonder to capture an audience so saturated in excitement.

But... what about post-analysis?
So, the reality is past... amazing stories have unfolded before our eyes in real-time. Now, journalists... go and find the real stories. Go deep , and dind out if the US policies of invading another nation without mass support of the world has helped the people of Iraq.

FOX News is great at covering LIVE events, but does a poor job at post-analysis journalism. Find the truths, journalists. Show me what we've spent our tax dollars to do. That is your job....

... mine is to merely watch.

Welp... appears RockSocial's moved with Wings... or is it down? heh

(This is my personal blog... I share the little things here...)
Last night, at the RockSocial @ Vinyl in Atlanta for NextLevelNight... I stepped into the emcee shoes a bit to introduce Three5Human (one of my local favs).

Got an email concerning an opportunity to emcee for an upcoming RightToRock show @ Vinyl with... Kip Winger! heh I personally find humor in everything... find it yourself this time.

Anyhoo, I read over what Right To Rock is all about. From what I can tell... politics has turned the corner, and the Libertarian party's now are promoting their "product" thru music. Kick ass!

Politically, I've pretty much always been a centrist and believe all the parties can get a bit looney about their "pet" initiatives. BUT... that's why they exist and gather other like-minds that share that passion. If it's "ALL ABOUT MUSIC" I'm there. So... below is an idea for the concert poster I had to get out of my head:

There's a "she's only seventeen" joke in there somewhere...
I'll keep everyone posted.

Battle of the "Networking" Stars...

Life's been a bit interesting the last few weeks.

FLUID SCHEDULE...
The past year, I've realized how much I like a fluid work schedule. It's allowed me to meet with so many great people to discuss and co-discover ideas. Business should be fun and beneficial... unsure why people put such a "worker-bee" mentality damper on conducting flexible and healthy business.

MEDITATION BEFORE DESIGN...
My mornings, early evenings and weekends have been my creative times. Been experiementing with taking a look at my project documentation, then, taking a break to meditate on it all, practice on the guitar... then come back to the computer with textures in my mind. Try it! Should work for any profession.

Enuff my Budha antics... back to design.
